"The human form has long held a fascination for me. The way the body moves. How the same pose, struck by two people, can look differently. And, what if we didn't have gravity? How would that change the way we move, the way we look? I wonder."
Kate Bradley is a practicing painter who is known for her spectacular color palette. Her innovative and intuitive approaches to painting are highly regarded. Her paintings are vivacious and vibrant, displaying a style of expressionistic impressionism. They evoke a zest for life. The colors penetrate the visual sense and awaken in the viewer an essence of vitality and vigor.
Her paintings do not allow you to ignore them. She uses the universal concepts of food, figure and mythology to reveal the richness and texture of life. Her work pleases the eye and engages the senses. The use of bold colors and paint texture in the execution of her subject matter causes the paintings to exude an energy all their own. The viewer is called to experience, not merely observe, to taste the fruit, to link minds with the nudes and to enter the story.
Paintings such as these tease your eyes and tickle your brain. They invite you to look deeper and in doing so you find yourself reflected back.
Raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, Bradley studied art and theatre in college. She worked in experimental theatre in Denver, Colorado as an actress performing in premiere productions of plays by emerging playwrights. Returning to Wisconsin, she studied art at the University of Wisconsin and Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD).
Ever a student, Bradley engages in self-study of the attributes of ancient goddesses and their symbolic impact on our lives today. She has developed a course she teaches on learning to painting intuitively.
Studio de la Paloma is located in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Bradley's work is included in many private and corporate collections in the United States and as far away as Sergiev Posad, Russia and Bangkok, Thailand.
